Many couples ask: 1. How I choose the music for films 2. If they can choose any song they'd like for their film
The music used for video production needs to be licensed due to copyright laws. Most popular songs are not available for licensing; therefor, cannot be used for highlights. However, there are a some mainstream artists that are available to license with select songs. The only exception is, when I produce your full day film that will be for personal use and not for my website or social media, I can incorporate any song you'd like.
So, with that being said I can answer the above questions:
1. After we meet and you fill out your questionnaire, I learn more about you, your wedding day, what's important to you, what type of film you're imagining (fast-paced, edgy, romantic, etc.), and what genre of music you both love (and don't love). Then, I spend A LOT of time finding the perfect song. I have various subscriptions to licensing websites that have a wide variety of songs and there are also other websites that you purchase songs one by one. When I find the perfect one, I license it and begin your film.
2. I put a lot of thought into finding your song before officially licensing it, based on your questionnaire and the overall "feel" of your special day. I try to find music that's modern and interesting. But, what's most important is that you are happy and love your film. So, I do give the option for couples to visit the licensing companies I use and provide me with a handful of possible song choices. But in all honesty, it can be an overwhelming process and I always pick a song I think you'll love... so you'll be in good hands even if you decide that I will hand pick your perfect song.
